Friendship Poem

A FRIEND LIKE YOU© Natasha
Everyone should have
a friend like you
You are so much fun to be with
And you are such a good person
You crack me up with laughter
And touch my heart with your kindness
You have a wonderful ability
To know when to offer advice
And when to sit in quiet support
Time after time
You've come to my rescue
And brightened so many
Of my routine days
And time after time
I've realized how fortunate
I am that my life includes you
I really do believe that
Everybody should have a friend like you
But so far it looks like
You are one of a kind!
(my version)
your my friend and I am yours
we laugh, cry, and yell at each others
you know my secrets and I cherish yours
only you know my deep feelings about what I look through my eyes
best friends is not the word to define our bond we have
best friends, sisters, god_angels not even them words can define what we call each other
I really like the poem because it is plain and simple but also kind of powerful in away to me. The poem gets to the point tells all of what a good and also real friendship is.
The poem means to me well it really shows me a certain type of bond that I have with my best friend so I can really relate to the poem.

Huck Finn Essay Exam (1-23)

A moral dilemma Huck had faced was the situation where he had faked his own death. Huck was basically tired of the way he was being treated at his pap's so Huck took the matter into his own hands. Wanting to get away from it all that he knew Pap, Widow Douglas. Huck had but the cleverness of what inside of him get the best of the side of his outside so he staged his death and made it so that nobody could find his body while he escaped. Off away on a raft to Jackson Island.

My decision if I was Huck's shoes would be the same escape. So I argued both for his favor and against it. My reason for my standing in this particular placement of judgement is because escaping was the right thing to do in my own mind I was not being treated like a human being I would have left. But for his death of course it would leaves people who had nothing to do with his decision who are victims to be left as suspects to be blamed.

Since my decision is to argue both for and against Huck my evidence will in this case support would be how during the beginning of the book when Huck had faked his death then ran off, then he ran right into Jim who was also on the run. Jim was a person on default. People had placed out wanted signs having Jim's picture on their saying wanted for murder. It was wrong because while Huck was running off he didn't think ahead and think if he leave would there be any people to blame or will people be looking at each others wondering who killed Huck. A right way on Huck's behave would be he gotten away from the verbal abuse possibly physical from his father better known as Pap.

Huck Finn Reader Response #3 (Ch 14-18)

In the Grangerford’s house what impressed Huck was how the family was more loving then he had ever seen. In Huck’s family well the who he lives with that type of family togetherness bond Huck has not experienced before. People in the house were all kind and sweet especially on how they took a complete stranger into their home and welcome him as if he was in the family. Also the family has a security with each other so that harm won’t come near .The death of Emmeline Grangerford had put an impression on Huck how the family would on her birthday every year they would place flowers on her picture to show their love to her. “Why bless you, Saul, the poor thing’s as wet as he can be; and don’t you reckon I may be he’s hungry?” (Ch 17, par 5, page 73)

Seeing the books in the house has gave him a better perspectives on education at first Huck had felt that you don’t need an education and that it is just a waste of time. The books had made Huck read them and want to know more about them. By the books being stacked up all nice and perfect that’s what made then catches Huck’s eyes. To me I feel that Mark Twain’s view on education was very high and that maybe he might feel that by having an education it can take you further in the future. Huck feeling change and that he is starting to believe that if you have an education then you can have the better hand you can get more valuable things in life such as a nice house and cars. “They had pictures hung on the walls-mainly Washington’s and Lafayette’s, and battles, and Highland Mary’s, and one called “Singing the Declaration”.” (Ch 17, par 3, page 76)

Huck looking through all the poems and pictures in the scrapbook he can see that Emmeline was obsessed with death. The uniqueness in them pictures were how they were all black every single color in the pictures were black neither type nor sense of happiness. The painting is what has caught Huck’s eye how the picture shows a girl on the edge of a cliff with three arms one set pointing up towards the sky and one set pointing out and the last set is pointing down. Mark Twain describe this picture so specifically because I’m guessing that it’s all about choices that you have to make during life whether you choose god, your self, or others. “It was a mighty nice family, and a mighty nice house, too. I hadn’t seen no house out in the country before that was so nice and had so much style.” (Ch 17, par 5, page 75)

Huck Finn Reader Responce 2

Tom Sawyer is Huck’s best friend. Them two are like brothers they go on adventures together, start clubs together it like they’re joined at the hip. In the first chapter when Huck was escaping form Widow Douglas standing right there waiting on him. To my knowledge Huck didn’t tell him to come and meet him Tom just knew. Tom is also an clever boy when him and Huck had went back while they were in the woods to get three candles Tom had laid a five cent piece on the table so that had showed they paid. Tom is just a kid who wants to have fun before him and Huck had left Tom had went back to tie Jim to the tree. “Now we’ll start this band of robber and call it Tom Sawyer’s Gang. Everybody that wants to join has got to take an oath, and write his name in blood.” (chap 2, page 5, par 4)

Now Widow Douglas is just a lady who husband had died and she needs that closure so she has Huck to live with her. While Huck was living with Widow Douglas it was very hard because Widow Douglas had set some rules down and Huck just didn’t like them but he learned how to deal with them. Widow Douglas she seems like a good hearted women she let a complete stranger live with her, she gave him clothes to where, food to eat, and basically a roof over his head. She also seems like a Christian women before her and Tom is about to eat she lowers her head and says a prayer. She teaches Tom about Moses an the Bulrushes. “Don’t put your feet there, Huckleberry; and don’t scrunch up like that.” “Don’t gap and stretch like that, Huckleberry-why don’t you try to behave. (chap 1, page 2, par 3)

Pap is Huckleberry’s father. Pap is just a non supportive father who is nothing but a drunk. When he had found out that Huck had got a hold of all that money that’s when he decided to come back into Huck’s life. He’s the type of person that is two faced he’s a mean man while he is sober and while he is drunk he is a very mean un thoughtful human being. Pap is also a man who seems like he is not grateful he doesn’t even have any respect for the Widow Douglas after she took his son in and fed, clothe, and even loved him. Pap will even turn his son in for a bottle of liquor. “The widow, hey?- and who told the widow she could put her shovel about a thing that ain’t none of her business?” (chap 5, page 15, par 1)

Jim is the Widow Douglas’s slave. Obviously he’s an African American in the south. He is an man who has pride. Jim is also a man who is quite low on his knowledge, and he speaks in a country dialect. Jim is a slave who is about in his late thirties and early forties who has a mind of a old man. Later on in the story Jim and Huck become some what of good friends who can rely on each others. Jim is a African American who has been to New Orleans. By knowing him you can tell that he has an great imagination by the stories he tells and by the stuff he says. He's very super stitious at that. "Well, dey's reasons. But you wouldn't tell on meef I 'uz to tell you, would you, Huck?" (chap8 , page32 ,par7 )

Huck is influenced by Tom Sawyer in kind of a negative and positive way the negative way is by Tom being Huck's best friend he could presure Huck into doing what ever also Huck thinks that Tom is this big and bad adventurer so that just makes Huck do wat ever. Also Tom can use his friend ship in a good positive way he could guide Huck out of doing bad. Pap has absolutely no positive effect on Huck probably he could teach Huck to be a survior. Negative effct is that his attitude to Huck that can drive Huck away and cause him to get into trouble. Jim has an positive effect on Huck by him being the adult he can also guide Huck. Negative effect is that he can make Huck do bad what by him havin that upper habd. Widow Douglas positive effect would be to have her Christian ways grow on Huck. Negative way is for her to also push and make Huck do bad.

Reader Response 1 Huck Finn (1-6)

Racism

The quote that I have choosen from Huck Finn is "Oh, yes, this is a wonderful government, wonderful. Why, looky here. There was a free nigger there, from Ohio; a mulatter, most as white as a white man. (Ch. 6, p. 20, par 3). In my own words a way to rewrite this quote is basically this government is just a waste of time you see they're not doing their jobs because if they were then there wouldn't be no free blacks. Look over there look at the N as free as a bird not giving a care of what none of us whites think he should be locked up if you ask me.

What I think about this quote is it's just plain racism now I know that back in that time there was still slavery. But the words that had came out of Pap's mouth was just disrespectful to which I believe all races especially white americans and black americans at that point. If a white american was to say that in these present times to an black american then probably five times out of ten that black american wouls be offended and might try to hurt that white american that had said it. Even if the saying was said in a different way it's still offensive like for an black american to say that back in the times of Mark Twain. "Look at that salty cracker. What is he even doing around here he knows the only type of people there are around here are us N, he is probably looking for another N to call his own". Now that quote would have been racism to white americans.

Mark Twain thoughts according to this book would probably be the same way I felt. By this book being such a crowd discussion and by people finding this book so offensive I would say that his feelings would be against slavery, racism, and government in a way. In order to express his gesture about this theme he would had have to put it in his book.
